I read this summer seven books. One of them was "The long engagement" by Sebastien Japrissot, really beautiful book about love and the madness of a war. Really beautiful story about a girl whose fiance has disappeared in a war and she tries to find out what really happened. I truly recommend it.

Another great book that I read this Summer was "Bridget Jones-the edge of reason" by Helen Fielding. I honestly laughed outloud when reading the book, it was so funny! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I have found a book when I was tidying up my room the other day and it is one of my top favourite books. It's called Playing the Moldovans at tennis by the British comedian Tony Hawks (not the skateboarder with the same name minus the 's' at the end) Laughing. It's so goddamn funny plus it's also humorous and interesting. It's about Tony Hawks doing a bet by beating the Moldovan football players in a game of tennis. It has travel references in that fascinates me as I am a keen traveller and plus I am an avid fan of Eastern European culture so it's my type of book.

I bought today 4 novels from the sale of a book store. These are Viktor Pelevin's The helmet of horror, which is a modern adaptation from the myth of Theseus and Minotauros. The Venetian house by Mary Nickson which takes place in a beatiful island of Corfu. La Mennullara by Simonetta Angello Hornby a story about the life of a Sisilian village called Roccacolombo in 1963. And The birth of Venus by Sarah dunant a love story of 15 year old aristocratic girl and a young artist in the late renaissance of Florence.

I will write you my reviews of each book after I've read them.

I bought today yet another, book though I haven't even read the once I bought earlier Laughing just haven't had time or energy. But anyway I bought Hotel Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones. The book has had great reviews and the tv serie that's based on the book is showing on tv saturdays. And since I travel alot and have studied tourism as well as worked in travel agencies and in a hotel...I think I'm gonna get quite a lot out of the book. Cause I'm gonna read it partly with professional view...

I'm reading Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman, and it's probably one of the loveliest books I've ever read - certainly a new favourite of mine. I stayed up really late the other night reading it; I eventually had to force myself to put it down, or else I would've read up to the very last page.

It takes place in Italy, and it's about a seventeen year old boy who falls in love with one of his father's summer guests, a 24 year old American graduate student. The prose is beautiful and emotional - the author captures first love and infatuation perfectly. It's intense, moving, sexy; every other page, I'm either crying or blushing.

Just thought I'd share - I haven't read such a beautiful book in a really long time. Smile

Dear friends,

I've spent last seven days and nights reading the Secret diary of Laura Palmer and I have to say that really rarely I've been so "sucked in" to a book than as I was while reading this one. The book is written by David Lynch's daughter Jennifer Lynch, who had also directed episodes to the TV series Twin Peaks itself, together with Mark Frost.
And it tells the story of Laura Palmer through her diary notes. In the beginning of the book Laura is only twelve and quite normal young girl, except that the threads are allready starting to rise their heads. Underneath the good girl's surface is bubling a vulcano which is soon about to explode. The book begins with diary notes of a normal girl whose sexuality is starting to slowly wake, she is slowly turning into a young woman with wild imagination, she tries smoking etc. A girl who sees nightmares in the night, that are soon about to turn little Laura into someone completely else. Laura Palmer's diary is a tragic story about a little girl who grows into a teenager and before the age of 16 has turned into a drug addicted prostitute. It's a story about how fragile the human mind really is, but despite of all the horrible things, there is still shining little light inside of Laura's mind, untill the moment that she realizes the truth and sees the end getting closer.

The book lets the reader inside of Laura Palmer's mind and the tension of the book carries the story from cover to cover. Allthough it sort of takes big leaps in the last half of the book, as Laura's notes get fewer and part of the notes go missing. (Like the ones who have watched the tv series know that part of the pages had been teared away from the diary. These pages are also missing from the book so the reader sees it exactly same way as special agent Dale Cooper did) I recommend the book to evryone and especially for the twin peaks fans. And btw the best way to read it is in bed in the middle of the night while listening to the soundtrack of Twin Peaks.

xoxo
